Because We All Need More Human Connection
For over 35 years, Lillian Roybal Rose has been changing people's lives in deep and meaningful ways by providing a profound context for this human connection. In the late 70's, she developed a workshop that turned the then current diversity training model of "blame and shame" on its head as she presented practical theoretical models based on psychology and ethics. She then paired these models with interactive and experiential activities that allowed participants to move beyond merely engaging their minds to, more importantly, opening their hearts.
This unique combination, coupled with her ability to see and bring out the best in people, has given participants a chance to see their lives as a 'frame of reference' and to better understand their own experiences and, in that process, come to better understand others' experiences. Her process fosters mutual respect among people of all backgrounds and provides fertile soil for alliance building, something this world certainly needs more of.
Lillian continues to inspire me with her honesty, compassion, brilliance, love, and humor. She is a beautifully unique human being, who cares deeply for our world and all its inhabitants. She is surely most qualified to continue to be recognized, for her contribution lives on in the thousands of people whose lives were touched and changed by her words, workshops, and the amazing person that she is.
